About Us
The quarterly journal of HEKMAT is a peer-reviewed journal established in 2008 by Dar Al-Hikma (a non-profit, non-governmental, online higher education institute). It publishes articles related to Social Sciences and the Modern World issues from the Islamic perspective. Therefore, articles in the fields of environmental ethics, peace and coexistence of religions, mental health, the meaning of life, social freedoms, women and family studies, and also topics related to gender, human rights, theism and atheism, etc. are welcome. The quarterly journal of HEKMAT accepts four kinds of articles: original research articles, short articles, book reviews, and Viewpoint (as well as Perspective and Opinion) articles.
The journal seeks to promote lively discussions and debates for established academics and the wider community, by publishing articles that avoid unnecessary jargon without sacrificing academic rigor. It encourages contributions from newer members of the Islamic studies community. We do not charge any publication fee from the authors for the papers to be published in the journal.
s an open access journal, and according to Bethesda Statement on Open Access Publishing (2003), the journal of Islam and the Contemporary World follows the Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0), under which authors agree to make articles legally available for reuse, without permission or fees, for non-commercial purposes. Anyone may copy, distribute or reuse these articles, as long as the author and original source are properly cited.
